A common service Toronto locksmiths perform is called a ‘rekey’. This involves changing the pins that make up the combination code for your lock. The old keys will no longer work and you will receive new keys. 
Some people call this “changing your lock” we really just change the key.
A lock is the most dependable machine you use every day. It can last for 25 years will little maintenance. When you lose control of your keys we don’t want to throw away a good quality lock just to change the key.
Some people will go to the hardware store and buy the cheapest lock they can find. They will remove a $300 lock from their front door and replace it with a $10 lock that looks similar. If a burglar tries to break in through this door it is a lot harder to get through the $300 lock.
A rekey is often the best solution. Our locksmith comes to your door, evaluates the quality and condition of your lock and then changes the key or recommends replacing the lock.
